Thank you for investing in renewable energy sources for the villagers of Guatemala! Though this campaign is complete, you can still join the team and make a difference by contributing here: http://asufoundation.org/ISD

A brighter perspective
Imagine waking up with little or no electricity. Imagine not having the resources to change that. Our goal is to minimize these challenges for the village of Vuelta Grande, Guatemala.

Our mission
To eliminate the disparity in living conditions of the villagers of Vuelta Grande by providing renewable energy sources and practices. We wish to create lasting relationships that will allow for continued service to this region for years to come. Through this hands on-experience we will absorb cultural differences through close interaction with community leaders while providing advice and creating life long relationships that will contribution to the growth of the leadership skills of our members.

A little about us
We are a growing group of Arizona State University students striving to build global relationships through community service to regions in needs. We want to enable students to transform society and the quality of life in both our communities and those we visit outside the United States. Through cultural immersion and a willingness to lend a helping hand we believe our members gain lifetime experiences to grow in both their academic and professional development.

Our journey

As a newly formed organization we had our first successful international service trip to Providencia,Costa Rica last year, implementing a sustainable coffee farm.Through the determination, spirit, and dedication of our motivated members we were able to eclipse any past group volunteer experiences the locals had experienced. We were able to break down cultural barriers and became part of the village family very quickly resulting in deep connections with our host families. With your help this is the type of energy and commitment we would like to bring to future communities in Guatemala. Please join us in spreading our cause and lending a helping hand.

The closing ceremony

Tonight we had a culmination dinner with the young dreamer network, which is Dream Careers scholarship program for 60 bright and talented students here in Antigua. The dinner was serene and prepared by the locals on the top of the rooftop of our hostel with the glorious Volcano Fuego situated in the backdrop. It was a very humbling and inspiring dinner with many of our Sun Devils sharing their views and experiences with the local school kids as well as hearing about the effects that our work has had on them. It was great knowing the positive impact we had on the children as we shared personal stories and experiences with them. What a great way to end our trip!

The process!

It was definitely not the easiest task but just seeing the smile on these kids faces was more than enough to make everything worth the hard work. Thank you again for all the support that we have received throughout this unforgettable experience!
