The campaign is an opportunity for AIGSA to contribute to the American Indian graduate community at Arizona State University. As a collective we believe American Indian students are underrepresented at major academic conferences and also, in general, American Indian issues are overlooked. As an organization it is one of our goals to raise awareness of Indian issues and give back to Indian communities. This fundraising campaign embodies that goal.

Who is the American Indian Graduate Student Association?
Our purpose and mission is to serve a critical role in promoting the professional development and cultural knowledge of its graduate and advanced degree-seeking undergraduate members in a collaborative, social environment. By fostering an atmosphere that promotes intellectual engagement and academic support, we hope to cultivate future leaders with a collective, altruistic vision aimed at raising awareness at Arizona State University and surrounding community on indigenous concerns in higher education.

How has the American Indian Graduate Student Association impacted Arizona State University?
AIGSA has financially supported:
  • Registration fees for Graduate students to attend conferences
  • Application fees for undergraduates who are applying to a Graduate program
  • Research projects
  • Printing posters for Graduate students research projects

Events AIGSA has hosted:
  • Research symposiums for Graduate students to showcase their current research projects
  • Mentor undergrads who strive to attend Grad School
  • For the past two years we have partnered with AIS 494: Cultural Professionalism class to mentor the students. Each student is partnered up with an American Indian graduate student who will provide guidance on their semester’s research project.
